In an interview with CNBC, McGraw-Hill’s CEO confirms that their textbooks will be on the Apple Tablet and it will be an iPhone OS based machine. When asked about rumors that their textbooks will be on the Apple tablet, Terry McGraw responds (2m 50s):

“Yeah, Very exciting. Yes, they’ll make their announcement tomorrow on this one. We have worked with Apple for quite a while. And the Tablet is going to be based on the iPhone operating system and so it will be transferable. So what you are going to be able to do now — we have a consortium of e-books. And we have 95% of all our materials that are in e-book format on that one. So now with the tablet you’re going to open up the higher education market, the professional market. The tablet is going to be just really terrific.”

iPhone Playing game using a WiiMote

    Categories: Wiimote Hack.

This looks like it might be a better interface for playing games than using buttons on the touch screen or tilting the screen back and forth.

“Yesterday I did my daily scan of Twitter and noticed an interesting question sent to at me. The person, TehMillhouse, asked if I could support the BTstack project.

Don’t know what the hell a BTstack project is? It basically implements a whole lot more of the Bluetooth stack than previously allowed by Apple. This is no easy task, so I was surprised to see a video of the author of BTstack already showing it off on YouTube by controlling an application wirelessly…with a WiiMote!”

    Written by Eric Slivka

France Télécom and Orange executive Stéphane Richard has apparently confirmed in a radio interview that Apple will be launching its much-anticipated tablet device as has been rumored for later this month. AppAdvice offers a translation of the exchange between Richard and Jean-Pierre Elkabbach of France’s Europe 1:

Jean-Pierre Elkabbach (the interviewer) : According to Le Point (a french magazine), your partner Apple will be launching a tablet
    Stéphane Richard: Yes.
    Jean-Pierre Elkabbach: … equipped with a webcam.
    Stéphane Richard: Yes.
Jean-Pierre Elkabbach: Will Orange customers also be able to enjoy it?
Stéphane Richard: Of course!, they will actually particularly enjoy it because the webcam will allow live video streaming. It’s a new take on mobile video-conferencing.

A video of the interview is also available, with the relevant comments beginning at approximately the 6:10 mark.

Richard has been tabbed as the next CEO of France Télécom, a position he will assume when current CEO Didier Lombard retires next year. As of January 1st, 2010, Richard assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer Delegate in preparation for taking the helm of the company.

Facebook for iPhone 3.1 gains Push notifications

by Nik Fletcher (RSS feed) Jan 6th 2010 at 3:20PM

iPhone Facebook junkies rejoice – for you no longer need to wait for email notifications from the service! With version 3.1 of the widely-acclaimed iPhone application (which has just arrived) you can now receive push notifications as things happen on Facebook.

That’s not all, however, as the update also adds the option to sync Facebook friends to your iPhone address book – complete with photos: something already found in the otherwise bare-bones webOS Facebook application.

Facebook for iPhone 3.1 is a free app and now available for download from the App Store – if you’re looking to use the app straight away, you might want to re-download the application as it’s currently being pushed out via iTunes’ app update system.

Cool! along with few other cool new features….
